From the editor

I've been working hard on getting the C64 BASIC dungeon series to the finish line. It's been a long time coming!

Seems I am not the only one with a penchant for the old roguelikes. A lot of new and ported games are in progress, plus several first-person dungeon crawlers.

Perhaps the RPG is having a resurgence, or maybe it never went away …?

Vectrex

Astro Bat, a work-in-progress Arkanoid-style homebrew for Vectrex

Astro Bat is a Vectrex homebrew Arkanoid-style game with power-ups (slow, catch, extend, multiball, laser, warp, extra ship), boss fights and a separate Duel mode, a Pong-like two-player or versus-CPU game. It plays best with a spinner, and the author has added speed settings so the analogue stick works too. The host expects it to run on a standard multicart and the Vectrex Mini.

Doom running through a Vectrex

A video shows Doom running via the Vectrex's vector display, which the hosts say looks remarkable. It is likely running through the console rather than on it.

How Worth-A-Watch is Made

My feed readers are constantly scouring an ever-growing list of the best blogs, online magazines, communities and YouTube channels for the latest news. I then hand-pick stories and add my thoughts, so nothing goes in unless I am sure it is worth your time.

Timestamps jump to the moment a story starts and written stories link to the original, so the traffic goes to the people who did the work.
