Hi Everybody

My first exposure to a computer was the ZX81 in 1982. I was amazed that I could type in some text and then I could be landing a spaceship on Mars. This is where my interest in computers started. I read all the magazines and decided I wanted an Oric 1. It had a moving keyboard and it beeped when you pressed a key. What more could a 13 year old want. I told my dad and he bought me a ZX Spectrum 16k. He was obviously a lot wiser than me. I have never been without a computer ever since. The 16k got upgraded to 48k. The 48k got upgraded with a Saga One Emperor keyboard. Then a 128k toast rack, an Atari STE then an Amiga 500. I still have my original A500.

I started to collect all the 8-bit computers in the 90's and ended up with quite a collection. A few years back, they were doing nothing in storage so I sold most of them to other collectors and users. I hoped they would get more attention than I could give them. I kept my Spectrum 48k, Spectrum 128k, Atari STE, A500, A1200 and my C64 breadbin.

As with a lot of 8-bit users I wish I had written my own game when I was younger, but never did. Now with all the modern technology and game creators like Kwyll, AGD, MPAGD Boriel and others. I think I might stand a chance of doing something, even if it is rubbish.

I still enjoy all forms of gaming with Modern consoles and I never go far without my Retroid Pocket Flip 2.

I was this close to starting with the zx81 but instead we got the Vic 20 which had colour but we had a black and white tv so didn’t really count 🤭

The main joy of programming these machines is doing rather than the results I think, but of course a fun game (even if not technically groundbreaking) is the goal 😁

Welcome and let me know how the coding goes!
