Hellorld!
Our first system was a Commodore PET that my dad borrowed for the summer, it must have been 1978 or so. It took us the whole summer to write our first game: BASEBALL, and discovered many limitations in BASIC. A few years ago I reconstructed it mostly from memory, in about a weekend.
More recently, I've been writing small (read: toy) programs for the TRS-80 Model 100 series, and this year took on the VCCC 2025 challenge. Check out https://logiker.com/Vintage-Computing-Christmas-Challenge-2025
Love that challenge! I know very little about the TRS-80 Model 100 but I do have a Coco2 that I also know very little about 😂
Well I got this far but I need to figure out how to do the rest in a small amount of bytes 😅
Chris Garrett First, get it working, then make it smaller. :) It's a bit addicting...
David Plass I won't win but it is fun to try ideas - I've always written longer than necessary programs because my main goal is readability/maintainability but then when I started teaching programming in the 90s my code got even longer ;)
Chris Garrett Yep, it's fun to try ideas, especially when working with a 50 year old language.
